The family history sessions have been so popular that our volunteer has agreed to do weekly drop ins at Ty Llywelyn Community Centre and Ty Hapus Community Resource Centre. We have found out lots of interesting info - eg. exactly who Di's auntie really was (you'll have to ask Di herself for that story!).  We are all gradually getting used to using the online family search websites and have definitely learned the lesson that you have to write the references down as you go. . .

Come and join us on:

Friday 2nd December 2pm at Ty Llywelyn
Tuesday 6th December 2pm at Ty Hapus

Family History Sessions at Ty Llywelyn Community Centre and Ty Hapus Community Resource Centre

Come to our family history sessions on:
Friday 4th November at 2pm - 4pm Ty Llywelyn
Friday 11th November at 2pm - 4pm Ty Llywelyn
Monday 14th November at 2pm - 4pm Ty Hapus
Monday 21st November at 2pm - 4pm at Ty Hapus

No need to book, just turn up on the day.  Please bring as much information as possible.  Any full names, dates of birth, residence, photos or stories will help with your search.  The 1911 census is now online so if you have details of relatives who would have been alive in 1911, the search is all the easier.
Remember that sometimes family stories may not turn out to be quite as they seemed so the more information from as many sources as possible, the better.
See you there!

Family History Sessions

The Tudno & Mostyn Arts Heritage Group have recently booked a subscription with the Find My Past website to enable us to search the 1911 census records and other items of interest.  Family History sessions will be continuing at Ty Hapus Community Resource Centre in October so if you are interested in coming along then contact Jayne on 01492 877972 or post a comment here.

Launch of the Tudno & Mostyn Arts Heritage Group

We have been busy planning some activities that have been requested by the community to run in the coming year:

  • Filming of personal stories at Llandudno Football Club - negotiations are taking place presently and we hope to be able to produce a film for the Following the Flame exhibition at Venue Cymru
  • Family history sessions at Ty Hapus Purl Knitters - these have been requested by the group and will run within the next couple of months
  • Animated film project - some very creative ideas are being developed about this and we are hoping to gain funding to go ahead with this
  • Creating a story archive for the newly formed BMX Llandudno involving photos, video and audio stories
If you would like to get involved with this group, have a look at our Facebook page or contact the Communities First Team on 01492 877972
