Calling all Llandudno Experts!

The Past is Always Present project is interested in the area known as Grannie's Armchair. Does anyone know the history of this monument? So far, we think that it is a mansell tower dating from roughly 15th/16th century. We also know that anyone who grew up in Llandudno probably played on it at some time in their childhood or has a story to tell . . .

Please share your knowledge and stories!

Llandudno Floods 1993

Does anyone have any photos or memories of the Llandudno floods in 1993? Here is a photo of St Andrews Avenue that appeared in the National newspapers at the time. The ambulance on the left of the picture belonged to Aberconwy Gingerbread, a local nursery and playcentre. The vehicle was used to help transport residents of the flooded sheltered housing to nursing homes in and around Llandudno.

Llandudno Memories@Ty Llywelyn

Our first session provided us with a lovely example of old Llandudno. This picture was bought in aid of St David's Hospice some years ago and its appearance led a couple of people to tell us that they had seen the picture in their family homes. It seems that this is an example of a local artist providing prints to be sold to raise funds.

Thanks to everyone for their interest in this project
